“Bling” the pop culture term for flashy, glittery, loud…has been making a large presence in the T shirt arena.  Great Garment Graphics has showcased several designs in our webinars and blogs over the past few weeks using heat applied vinyls to get this effect.

We combined two types of heat applied vinyls to achieve the “bling” on this t shirt. The glove was cut out of Glitter Flake which gives us that diamond look.

During our Mixed Media Series Part 2:  Mixing CAD-CUT® Materials Using Your Vinyl Cutter webinar we replicated the “look” of a Taylor Swift worn shirt. The Hologram material was used to give the look of sequins that was desired.

During our latest webinar series we spent a lot of time showing how to mix various heat applied vinyls – all of the materials we basically in the same family. How would you add some “bling” to a paper printed transfer?

Whether the transfer is a inkjet printed, laser printed or screen printed the process is going to be similar. Of course, you will want to apply the transfer to the garment first. Then you want to add a heat applied vinyl to one or more small elements of the design.  The more elements that you add the longer the application process will be therefore driving up the cost.  Be certain that you choose a material in a complementary color to the print – in the event the the registration is off it will not be so offensive.  Another trick is to trim the carrier on the vinyl as close to the image as possible.  The less carrier that is touching the transfer the better the results will be.  Be certain to apply the vinyl at the recommended temperature and pressure but never more and always use a cover sheet to protect your transfer image.

Take a look at the video created to outline the steps.
