Heat Print Tips for Your Summer T-Shirts
Now that temperatures are rising, everyone is wearing t-shirts, but did you know you can help your customer’s summer dilemmas by what t-shirt color you heat print onto? Here are some tips to keep pesky mosquitoes away and sun exposure to a minimum:
Pesky Mosquitoes

Mosquitos love dark colors
Mosquitoes are shown to prefer darker colored clothing over lighter colors, as in a research project funded by S.C. Johnson. Darker t-shirts retain more heat, which attracts the little blood suckers. Suggestion: lighten up the color. Not only is white or light colored t-shirts a mosquito preventitive, it also makes it easier to see people at night, especially kids.
Sun Protection

The darker the shirt, the more sun protection
Darker colored clothing has a much higher SPF than light colored clothing (black clothing provides 5 times more protection than white clothing – a white T-shirt has only a 5 SPF rating). Suggest, to your customers, that if the shirts are to be worn out in the sun all day, they might want to go with black, navy or purple t-shirts.
