Layering Screen Printed Transfer Graphics

If you’re brave enough to venture into a more advanced skill with a heat press, layering graphics is a great starting point to become a more daring decorator. It does take a little more time than just applying one transfer however the outcome is well worth the wait.

At Transfer Express, we introduced to our customers the possibility of layering transfers starting with a background design to make a completely new and unique look for their customers. It all starts with a background design such as Transfer Extreme Essentials. Other clip art or your own background designs can be created as screen printed transfers for your base layer. Below are instructions on how this extremely colorful layered graphic came to be.

With your heat press, apply the base layer to the instructions for that particular transfer.

Next, position and apply your second layer. Here we are using another screen printed transfer. If any ink is exposed, cover the whole design with a cover sheet.  Other materials such as rhinestones, cut material (vinyl) as well as digital transfers can also adhere to these screen printed transfers.

Any exposed ink while applying the second layer will stick to the top platen unless a cover sheet is used.

Remove the cover sheet and your design is complete. More layers can be applied if needed to complete your design.
