We continued our series on Building a T-Shirt Business from the Ground Up this week with Part II- adding a vinyl cutter to your business.  Some things to consider:

  • Your business model will help decide which type of cutter you need.  An embroiderer who offers applique will benefit from the flat-bad, Ioline 300 cutter.   This is a precise, production cutter designed for working with thick materials like twill.  It can also be used to cut CAD-CUT® and SPECTRA® heat transfer materials.
  • Most businesses will benefit from adding  a roll-fed cutter like the Roland GX-24.  This machine will cut all heat transfer vinyls as well as sign vinyl and some twill.  Low-cost investment will yield high profits with personalization and custom graphics on a short run basis.

Of course, you will need a graphic program to create your designs.  We demonstrated to versatility and ease of use of CadworxLIVE® from GroupeSTAHL.  CadworxLIVE is a free, on-line vector art program available to all customers of the GroupeSTAHL companies- Stahls ID Direct™, Transfer Express® and Imprintables Warehouse®.
